Reviewed June 2026
Virgin Media O2 Business is the B2B and public-sector arm of Virgin Media O2, the 50:50 joint venture between Liberty Global and Telefónica formed in June 2021. It brings together Virgin Media's fixed, cable and fibre network with O2's mobile network to deliver connectivity, business mobile, unified communications, and (through a Telefónica Tech partnership) managed cloud and security services. Customers range from SMEs through to large enterprise and government.
Our verdict
Virgin Media O2 Business scores 67/100 (Good) and ranks #8 overall. Mid-market, enterprise and public-sector organisations that want converged fixed and O2 mobile connectivity, SD-WAN, and managed cloud and security from a single large-scale UK provider.
Strengths
- Owns both a major fixed/cable-fibre network and the O2 mobile network, enabling genuinely converged fixed + mobile deals from a single provider
- Very broad portfolio: broadband, leased lines up to 10Gbps, SD-WAN/SASE, UC (Teams Phone, Webex) and managed cloud/security
- Strong scale and reach for large enterprise and public sector (G-Cloud supplier, serves 550+ public sector bodies and blue-light services)
- Credible managed cloud and security capability through the Telefonica Tech partnership (1,000+ UK technology professionals, MDR, IaaS/PaaS)
- Established partner ecosystem (Microsoft, Cisco, Sophos, IBM)
Watch-outs
- Very poor public review scores (~1.1/5 on Trustpilot for the business profile) with persistent complaints about customer service, billing and support
- Customer service and account/billing issues were widely reported following the Virgin Media + O2 merger integration
- Managed IT/cloud and cyber capability is largely delivered via the Telefonica Tech partnership rather than fully in-house
- Does not offer business energy
- Pricing is largely bespoke/quote-based with limited public transparency, and fibre/leased-line availability is tied to network footprint
- Geared toward mid-market, enterprise and public sector; can be less nimble for micro-businesses
