TalkTalk Business is a UK B2B connectivity and managed-network provider. It started life as Opal Telecom (founded 1995), was rebranded under the TalkTalk Group in 2011, then demerged in 2023 (sold to the group's shareholders for £95m) and completed full separation as an independent company in February 2026. It serves roughly 180,000 UK businesses, both directly and through around 350 resellers, offering business broadband, leased lines, SD-WAN, hosted voice/UC, and managed networking and security services. Worth knowing: TalkTalk's former wholesale carrier arm (TalkTalk Wholesale Services plus the acquired Virtual1) was spun into a separate company, PXC / PlatformX Communications, in March 2024. The modern TalkTalk Business is primarily the direct and reseller B2B operation, not the underlying wholesale network owner.
Our verdict
TalkTalk Business scores 77/100 (Very good) and ranks #4 overall. SMEs through to enterprise and public-sector organisations that want business connectivity (fibre, leased lines, SD-WAN) alongside hosted voice/UC and managed networking and security from a single established UK provider. Also suits channel resellers looking for a connectivity-led supplier.
Strengths
- Strong, long-standing connectivity heritage (30+ years) with deep Ethernet/leased-line capability and large UK network reach
- Excellent customer sentiment, 4.8/5 'Excellent' on Trustpilot across ~20,000+ reviews, unusual for a UK telco
- Broad portfolio spanning connectivity, SD-WAN, hosted voice/UC and managed network security, enabling end-to-end managed solutions
- Established reseller/channel programme (~350 partners) plus direct enterprise and public-sector base of ~180,000 businesses
- Competitive leased-line SLAs (99.995% uptime, up to 100% service credits, faster-than-industry install times)
Watch-outs
- Does not offer business energy at all, and IT/cyber is network-centric (managed connectivity/security) rather than a full MSP/cloud/endpoint stack
- Underlying wholesale national network was hived off into PXC in 2024, so TTB no longer owns the full carrier infrastructure it once did, adds a dependency
- Still completing operational separation from TalkTalk Group (finalised Feb 2026); systems/brand transition is recent and the standalone track record is short
- Consumer-side TalkTalk brand carries weaker reputation, which can create confusion versus the well-rated Business arm
- Pricing is largely quote-based with limited public transparency, making quick comparison harder for smaller buyers
